Ready to take on anyone - Hema Malini

Normally, filmmakers would think twice before releasing their films along with a biggie, especially if it is one that stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. But actor-turned-producer Hema Malini is doing just that.

Besides, I thought it would be better if Esha's film released during the Diwali holidays," says Hema Malini.

"When Shah Rush’s film can make it to the theatres for Diwali, why can't my film release on the same day? I can also have the privilege to show my production on the big day. It's not as if everyone will watch only one film during Deepawali," states Hema Malini.

Her home production that stars her daughter Esha Deol is hitting screens on the same say as SRK's superhero flick. But the lady is unperturbed about the whole hype.

Are the reports true that Hema Malini didn't want her daughter to clash with Katrina? "There is no truth in that statement. My film was ready for release, but then the release date fell under the shad period, which is considered inauspicious.

So, is this film really a re-launch vehicle for Esha Doel? The grapevine has it that Hema Malini was not happy with the way her daughter's career was shaping up. "She took a break from films and is back after a hiatus with this beautiful project. She plays a character who is in search of her identity and travels all over the country finding her true self. I always knew that eEsha Deol was a fine actor right from her maiden venture. She made a few mistakes with her selection of projects. She did too many multi-starrers and roles that couldn't bring out her best," she says. Does that mean that Esha will not do films that have an ensemble cast anymore? "She doesn't have to. Why should she?" asks Hema.
